Mark 14:1-7
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
1Now the Passover and Festival of Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest Him covertly and kill Him; 2for they were saying, 'Not during the festival, otherwise there will be a riot of the people.'
3While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the Leper, He was reclining at the table, and a woman came with an alabaster vial of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the vial and poured the perfume over His head.
4But there were some indignantly remarking to one another, 'Why has this perfume been wasted?
5For this perfume could have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.' And they were scolding her.
6But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a good deed for Me.
7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.
King James Version
Chapter 14
1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. 2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her she hath wrought a good work on me.
7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

Chapter 14
1It was two days before the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a cunning way to arrest Jesus and kill him. 2"Not during the festival," they said, "so that there won’t be a riot among the people."
3While he was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured it on his head.
4But some were expressing indignation to one another: "Why has this perfume been wasted?
5For this perfume might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they began to scold her.
