Mark 14:54-59
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
54And Peter had followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself at the fire. 55Now the chief priests and the entire Council were trying to obtain testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, and they were not finding any. 56For many people were giving false testimony against Him, and so their testimonies were not consistent. 57And then some stood up and began giving false testimony against Him, saying, 58We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that was made by hands, and in three days I will build another, made without hands.’?' 59And not even in this respect was their testimony consistent.King James Version
Chapter 14
54And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. 55And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. 56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. 57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. 59But neither so did their witness agree together.Christian Standard Bible
55The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they could not find any.
56For many were giving false testimony against him, and the testimonies did not agree.
57Some stood up and gave false testimony against him, stating,
58"We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands, and in three days I will build another not made by hands.’"
59Yet their testimony did not agree even on this.
New Living Translation
55Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find evidence against Jesus, so they could put him to death. But they couldn’t find any.
56Many false witnesses spoke against him, but they contradicted each other.
57Finally, some men stood up and gave this false testimony:
58We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this Temple made with human hands, and in three days I will build another, made without human hands.’'
59But even then they didn’t get their stories straight!
