Chapter 15

14But Pilate said to them, 'Why, what evil has He done?' But they shouted all the more, 'Crucify Him!' 15Intent on satisfying the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
16Now the soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they *called together the whole Roman cohort. 17And they *dressed Him in purple, and after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on Him; 18and they began saluting Him: 'Hail, King of the Jews!'

14Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. 15And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
16And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. 17And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, 18And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

14Why?' Pilate demanded. 'What crime has he committed?' But the mob roared even louder, 'Crucify him!'
15So to pacify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.
16The soldiers took Jesus into the courtyard of the governor’s headquarters (called the Praetorium) and called out the entire regiment. 17They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. 18Then they saluted him and taunted, 'Hail! King of the Jews!'
