Chapter 15
25Now it was the third hour when they crucified Him. 26The inscription of the charge against Him read, 'THE KING OF THE JEWS.'
27And they *crucified two rebels with Him, one on His right and one on His left.
28
29Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, shaking their heads and saying, 'Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,
30save Yourself by coming down from the cross!'
31In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, 'He saved others; He cannot save Himself!
32Let this Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!' Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.
33When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, 'ELOI, ELOI, LEMA SABAKTANEI?' which is translated, 'MY God, MY God, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?'
35And when some of the bystanders heard Him, they began saying, 'Look! He is calling for Elijah!'
36And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying, 'Let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.'
37But Jesus let out a loud cry, and died.
38And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
39And when the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw that He died in this way, he said, 'Truly this man was the Son of God!'
40Now there were also some women watching from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and Joses, and Salome.
41When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and serve Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
42When evening had already come, since it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
43Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself also waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.

25And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. 26And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 27And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. 28And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. 29And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, 30Save thyself, and come down from the cross. 31Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. 32Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me
35And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

25Now it was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26The inscription of the charge written against him was: THE KING OF THE JEWS. 27They crucified two criminals with him, one on his right and one on his left. 28
29Those who passed by were yelling insults at him, shaking their heads, and saying, "Ha! The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,
30save yourself by coming down from the cross!"
31In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking him among themselves and saying, "He saved others, but he cannot save himself!
32Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe." Even those who were crucified with him taunted him.
33When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
34And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni?" which is translated, "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"
37Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed his last.
38Then the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
39When the centurion, who was standing opposite him, saw the way he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"

25It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him. 26A sign announced the charge against him. It read, 'The King of the Jews.' 27Two revolutionaries were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 28
29The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery. 'Ha! Look at you now!' they yelled at him. 'You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days.
30Well then, save yourself and come down from the cross!'
31The leading priests and teachers of religious law also mocked Jesus. 'He saved others,' they scoffed, 'but he can’t save himself!
32Let this Messiah, this King of Israel, come down from the cross so we can see it and believe him!' Even the men who were crucified with Jesus ridiculed him.
33At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.
34Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?' which means 'My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?'
35Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.
36One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink. 'Wait!' he said. 'Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down!'
37Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last.
38And the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30save yourself, and come down from the cross!" 31So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe." Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.
