Chapter 6

35And when it was already late, His disciples came up to Him and said, 'This place is secluded and it is already late; 36send them away so that they may go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.' 37But He answered them, 'You give them something to eat!' And they *said to Him, 'Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread, and give it to them to eat?' 38But He *said to them, 'How many loaves do you have? Go look!' And when they found out, they *said, 'Five, and two fish.' 39And He ordered them all to recline by groups on the green grass.

35And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: 36Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. 37He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat 38He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 39And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.

38He asked them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." When they found out they said, "Five, and two fish." 39Then he instructed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.

35Late in the afternoon his disciples came to him and said, 'This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. 36Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.'
37But Jesus said, 'You feed them.' 'With what?' they asked. 'We’d have to work for months to earn enough money to buy food for all these people!'
38How much bread do you have?' he asked. 'Go and find out.' They came back and reported, 'We have five loaves of bread and two fish.'
39Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass.
