Chapter 7

26Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician descent. And she repeatedly asked Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27And He was saying to her, 'Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.' 28But she answered and *said to Him, 'Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.' 29And He said to her, 'Because of this answer, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.' 30And after going back to her home, she found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

26The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. 29And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

26The woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth, and she was asking him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27He said to her, "Let the children be fed first, because it isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs."
28But she replied to him, "Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs."
29Then he told her, "Because of this reply, you may go. The demon has left your daughter." 30When she went back to her home, she found her child lying on the bed, and the demon was gone.

26and she begged him to cast out the demon from her daughter. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia, 27Jesus told her, 'First I should feed the children — my own family, the Jews. It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.'
28She replied, 'That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.'
29Good answer!' he said. 'Now go home, for the demon has left your daughter.' 30And when she arrived home, she found her little girl lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.
