Mark 8:9-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
9
About four thousand men were
there;
and He dismissed them.
10
And immediately He got into the boat with His disciples and came to the region of Dalmanutha.
11
And the Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, demanding from Him a sign from heaven, to test Him.
12
Sighing deeply in His spirit, He *said, 'Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!'
King James Version
Chapter 8
9
And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10
And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11
And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12
And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
Christian Standard Bible

Sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, "Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."
New Living Translation
Chapter 8
9
There were about 4,000 men in the crowd that day, and Jesus sent them home after they had eaten.
10
Immediately after this, he got into a boat with his disciples and crossed over to the region of Dalmanutha.
11
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came and started to argue with him. Testing him, they demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.
12
When he heard this, he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, 'Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.'
English Standard Version
