Chapter 9

1And Jesus was saying to them, 'Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God when it has come with power.'
2And six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter, James, and John, and *brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; 3and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. 5Peter responded and *said to Jesus, 'Rabbi, it is good that we are here; let’s make three tabernacles, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.' 6For he did not know how to reply; for they became terrified. 7Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: 'This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!' 8And suddenly they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.

1And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
2And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. 3And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. 4And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 5And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. 7And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

Let us set up three shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah"— 6because he did not know what to say, since they were terrified.
7A cloud appeared, overshadowing them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my beloved Son; listen to him!"
8Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.

1Jesus went on to say, 'I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!'
2Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed, 3and his clothes became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly bleach could ever make them. 4Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus.
5Peter exclaimed, 'Rabbi, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials — one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.' 6He said this because he didn’t really know what else to say, for they were all terrified.
7Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, 'This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.' 8Suddenly, when they looked around, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus with them.
