Chapter 9
22It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to kill him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!' 23But Jesus said to him, '?‘If You can?’ All things are possible for the one who believes.' 24Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, 'I do believe; help my unbelief!' 25When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, 'You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again!' 26And after crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of them said, 'He is dead!' 27But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him, and he got up. 28When He came into the house, His disciples began asking Him privately, 'Why is it that we could not cast it out?' 29And He said to them, 'This kind cannot come out by anything except prayer.'
30And from there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know about it.
31For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, 'The Son of Man is to be handed over to men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.'
32But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.
33They came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He began to question them: 'What were you discussing on the way?'
34But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest.
35And sitting down, He called the twelve and *said to them, 'If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.'
36And He took a child and placed him among them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them,
37Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.'
38John said to Him, 'Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.'
39But Jesus said, 'Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.
40For the one who is not against us is for us.

22And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. 23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. 25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 26And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. 27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. 28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? 29And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
30And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
32But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
33And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way
34But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.
35And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
36And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
38And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40For he that is not against us is on our part.

30Then they left that place and made their way through Galilee, but he did not want anyone to know it.
31For he was teaching his disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise three days later."
32But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask him.
33They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the way?"
34But they were silent, because on the way they had been arguing with one another about who was the greatest.
35Sitting down, he called the Twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be last and servant of all."
36He took a child, had him stand among them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
37"Whoever welcomes one little child such as this in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but him who sent me."

26Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, 'He’s dead.'
27But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.
30Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn’t want anyone to know he was there,
31for he wanted to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, 'The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead.'
32They didn’t understand what he was saying, however, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.
33After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, 'What were you discussing out on the road?'
34But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.
35He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, 'Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.'
