Chapter 14

13Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard about this, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14When He came ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.
15Now when it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, 'This place is secluded and the hour is already past to eat; send the crowds away, so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.' 16But Jesus said to them, 'They do not need to go; you give them something to eat!' 17They *said to Him, 'We have nothing here except five loaves and two fish.'

13When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. 14And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
15And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. 16But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 17And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

13When Jesus heard about it, he withdrew from there by boat to a remote place to be alone. When the crowds heard this, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14When he went ashore, he saw a large crowd, had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15When evening came, the disciples approached him and said, "This place is deserted, and it is already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves."
16"They don’t need to go away," Jesus told them. "You give them something to eat."
17"But we only have five loaves and two fish here," they said to him.

13As soon as Jesus heard the news, he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. 14Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15That evening the disciples came to him and said, 'This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.'
16But Jesus said, 'That isn’t necessary — you feed them.'
17But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!' they answered.

15As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."
16Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
