Chapter 14

24But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. 25And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, 'It is a ghost!' And they cried out in fear. 27But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.'
28Peter responded and said to Him, 'Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.' 29And He said, 'Come!' And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me!'

24But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

24Meanwhile, the boat was already some distance from land, battered by the waves, because the wind was against them. 25Jesus came toward them walking on the sea very early in the morning. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified. "It’s a ghost!" they said, and they cried out in fear.
27Immediately Jesus spoke to them. "Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid."
28"Lord, if it’s you," Peter answered him, "command me to come to you on the water."
29He said, "Come." And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me!"

24Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. 25About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, 'It’s a ghost!'
27But Jesus spoke to them at once. 'Don’t be afraid,' he said. 'Take courage. I am here! '
28Then Peter called to him, 'Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.'
29Yes, come,' Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. 'Save me, Lord!' he shouted.
