New American Standard Bible
Chapter 17
9When they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, 'Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.' 10And His disciples asked Him, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?' 11And He answered and said, 'Elijah is coming and will restore all things; 12but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.' 13Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
14When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying,
15Lord, have mercy on my son, because he has seizures and suffers terribly; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
16And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.'
17And Jesus answered and said, 'You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.'
18And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was healed at once.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, 'Why could we not cast it out?'
20And He *said to them, 'Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. '
21
22And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men;
23and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.' And they were deeply grieved.
24Now when they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, 'Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?'
25He *said, 'Yes.' And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, 'What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?'
26When Peter said, 'From strangers,' Jesus said to him, 'Then the sons are exempt.

Chapter 17
9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. 10And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 11And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
14And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you how long shall I suffer you bring him hither to me.
18And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
24And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
25He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute of their own children, or of strangers
26Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

11"Elijah is coming and will restore everything," he replied.
12"But I tell you: Elijah has already come, and they didn’t recognize him. On the contrary, they did whatever they pleased to him. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."
13Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
14When they reached the crowd, a man approached and knelt down before him.
15"Lord," he said, "have mercy on my son, because he has seizures and suffers terribly. He often falls into the fire and often into the water.
16I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him."
17Jesus replied, "You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me."
18Then Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and from that moment the boy was healed.
20"Because of your little faith," he told them. "For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

New Living Translation
11Jesus replied, 'Elijah is indeed coming first to get everything ready.
12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, but he wasn’t recognized, and they chose to abuse him. And in the same way they will also make the Son of Man suffer.'
13Then the disciples realized he was talking about John the Baptist.
14At the foot of the mountain, a large crowd was waiting for them. A man came and knelt before Jesus and said,
15Lord, have mercy on my son. He has seizures and suffers terribly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.
16So I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him.'
17Jesus said, 'You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.'
18Then Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy, and it left him. From that moment the boy was well.
20You don’t have enough faith,' Jesus told them. 'I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. '

Chapter 17
9And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead." 10And the disciples asked him, "Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?" 11He answered, "Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. 12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands." 13Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
14And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him,
15said, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.
16And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him."
17And Jesus answered, "O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me."
18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?"
20He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."

New International Version
11Jesus replied, "To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.
12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."
13Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.
14When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him.
15"Lord, have mercy on my son," he said. "He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.
16I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him."
17"You unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me."
18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.
20He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

New King James Version
11Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things.
12But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.”
13Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
14And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying,
15“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
16So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
20So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
21However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
