Matthew 24:1-36
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
1Jesus left the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2But He responded and said to them, 'Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.'
4And Jesus answered and said to them, 'See to it that no one misleads you.
5For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people.
6And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.
7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains.
9Then they will hand you over to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
10And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another.
11And many false prophets will rise up and mislead many people.
12And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold.
13But the one who endures to the end is the one who will be saved.
14This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
15Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place— let the reader understand—
16then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
17Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house.
18And whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.
19But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
20Moreover, pray that when you flee, it will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.
21For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will again.
22And if those days had not been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
23Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘ He is over here,’ do not believe him.
24For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
25Behold, I have told you in advance.
26So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them.
27For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
28Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
29But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
30And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.
31And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET BLAST, and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
32Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near;
33so you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door.
34Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
35Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Chapter 24
1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25Behold, I have told you before.
26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Chapter 24
1As Jesus left and was going out of the temple, his disciples came up and called his attention to its buildings. 2He replied to them, "Do you see all these things? Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left here on another that will not be thrown down."
4Jesus replied to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
5For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many.
6You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
7For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8All these events are the beginning of labor pains.
9"Then they will hand you over to be persecuted, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name.
10Then many will fall away, betray one another, and hate one another.
11Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
12Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.
13But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15"So when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place" (let the reader understand),
16"then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.
17A man on the housetop must not come down to get things out of his house,
18and a man in the field must not go back to get his coat.
19Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days!
20Pray that your escape may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.
21For at that time there will be great distress, the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again.
22Unless those days were cut short, no one would be saved. But those days will be cut short because of the elect.
23"If anyone tells you then, ‘See, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Over here!’ do not believe it.
24For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
25Take note: I have told you in advance.
26So if they tell you, ‘See, he’s in the wilderness!’ don’t go out; or, ‘See, he’s in the storerooms!’ do not believe it.
27For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
28Wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather.
29"Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
30Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

33In the same way, when you see all these things, recognize that he is near—at the door.
34Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.
35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Chapter 24
1As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. 2But he responded, 'Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!'
4Jesus told them, 'Don’t let anyone mislead you,
5for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.
6And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.
7Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.
8But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
9Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.
10And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.
11And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.
12Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.
13But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.
15The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about — the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.' (Reader, pay attention!)
16Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.
17A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.
18A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.
19How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.
20And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
21For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again.
22In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.
23Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it.
24For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.
25See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.
26So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it!
27For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.
28Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.
30And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world — from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
32Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near.
33In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.
34I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place.
35Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.
