Matthew 24:36-49
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
36But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40At that time there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.
42Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
43But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.
45Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household slaves, to give them their food at the proper time?
46Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.
47Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
48But if that evil slave says in his heart, ‘My master is not coming for a long time,’
49and he begins to beat his fellow slaves, and he eats and drinks with those habitually drunk;

Chapter 24
36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

Chapter 24
36"Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels of heaven nor the Son —except the Father alone. 37As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. 38For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark. 39They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be. 40Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41Two women will be grinding grain with a hand mill; one will be taken and one left. 42Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43But know this: If the homeowner had known what time the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into. 44This is why you are also to be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
45"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time?
46Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing his job when he comes.
47Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
48But if that wicked servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delayed,’
49and starts to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with drunkards,
New Living Translation
37When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.
38In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat.
39People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
40Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left.
41Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
42So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.
43Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into.
44You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
45A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.
46If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward.
47I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.
48But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’
49and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk?

46It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.

48But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’
