Chapter 26
49And immediately Judas went up to Jesus and said, 'Greetings, Rabbi!' and kissed Him. 50But Jesus said to him, 'Friend, do what you have come for.' Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and arrested Him.
51And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.
52Then Jesus *said to him, 'Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword will perish by the sword.
53Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
54How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?'

49And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. 50And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. 51And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. 52Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?Christian Standard Bible
50"Friend," Jesus asked him, "why have you come?" Then they came up, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.
51At that moment one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword. He struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his ear.
52Then Jesus told him, "Put your sword back in its place because all who take up the sword will perish by the sword.
53Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and he will provide me here and now with more than twelve legions of angels?
54How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?"

50Jesus replied, "Do what you came for, friend." Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.
51With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
52"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
53Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"
