Micah 2:2-8

Chapter 2
2They covet fields, so they seize them; And houses, so they take them. They exploit a man and his house, A person and his inheritance. 3Therefore this is what the Lord says: 'Behold, I am planning against this family a catastrophe From which you cannot remove your necks; And you will not walk haughtily, For it will be an evil time. 4On that day they will take up against you a song of mocking And utter a song of mourning and say, ‘We are completely destroyed! He exchanges the share of my people; How He removes it from me! To the apostate He apportions our fields.’ 5Therefore you will have no one applying a measuring line For you by lot in the assembly of the Lord. 6‘Do not prophesy,’ so they prophesy. But if they do not prophesy about these things, Insults will not be turned back. 7Is it being said, house of Jacob: ‘Is the Spirit of the Lord impatient? Are these His works?’ Do My words not do good For the one walking rightly? 8 Recently My people have arisen as an enemy— You strip the robe off the garment From unsuspecting passers-by, From those returned from war.King James Version

3Therefore, the Lord says: I am now planning a disaster against this nation; you cannot free your necks from it. Then you will not walk so proudly because it will be an evil time.
4In that day one will take up a taunt against you and lament mournfully, saying, "We are totally ruined! He measures out the allotted land of my people. How he removes it from me! He allots our fields to traitors."
5Therefore, there will be no one in the assembly of the Lord to divide the land by casting lots.
6"Quit your preaching," they preach. "They should not preach these things; shame will not overtake us."
7House of Jacob, should it be asked, "Is the Spirit of the Lord impatient? Are these the things he does?" Don’t my words bring good to the one who walks uprightly?
8But recently my people have risen up like an enemy: You strip off the splendid robe from those who are passing through confidently, like those returning from war.
New Living Translation
4In that day your enemies will make fun of you by singing this song of despair about you: 'We are finished, completely ruined! God has confiscated our land, taking it from us. He has given our fields to those who betrayed us. '
5Others will set your boundaries then, and the Lord’s people will have no say in how the land is divided.
7Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the Lord’s Spirit have patience with such behavior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.
8Yet to this very hour my people rise against me like an enemy! You steal the shirts right off the backs of those who trusted you, making them as ragged as men returning from battle.

2They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance. 3Therefore thus says the Lord: behold, against this family I am devising disaster, from which you cannot remove your necks, and you shall not walk haughtily, for it will be a time of disaster. 4In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you and moan bitterly, and say, "We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! To an apostate he allots our fields." 5Therefore you will have none to cast the line by lot in the assembly of the Lord. 6 "Do not preach" — thus they preach — "one should not preach of such things; disgrace will not overtake us." 7Should this be said, O house of Jacob? Has the Lord grown impatient? Are these his deeds? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly? 8But lately my people have risen up as an enemy; you strip the rich robe from those who pass by trustingly with no thought of war.New International Version
4In that day people will ridicule you; they will taunt you with this mournful song: ‘We are utterly ruined; my people’s possession is divided up. He takes it from me! He assigns our fields to traitors.’ "
5Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the Lord to divide the land by lot.

7You descendants of Jacob, should it be said, "Does the Lord become impatient? Does he do such things?" "Do not my words do good to the one whose ways are upright?
8Lately my people have risen up like an enemy. You strip off the rich robe from those who pass by without a care, like men returning from battle.

6“Do not prattle,” you say to those who prophesy. So they shall not prophesy to you; They shall not return insult for insult.
7 You who are named the house of Jacob: “Is the Spirit of the Lord restricted? Are these His doings? Do not My words do good To him who walks uprightly?
8“Lately My people have risen up as an enemy— You pull off the robe with the garment From those who trust you, as they pass by, Like men returned from war.
