Chapter 27

4Why should the name of our father be withdrawn from among his family simply because he had no son? Give us property among our father’s brothers.' 5So Moses brought their case before the Lord.
6Then the Lord said to Moses, 7The daughters of Zelophehad are right about their statements. You shall certainly give them hereditary property among their father’s brothers, and you shall transfer the inheritance of their father to them. 8Further, you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. 9And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

4Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
5And Moses brought their cause before the Lord. 6And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 7The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. 8And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. 9And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

4Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan? Since he had no son, give us property among our father’s brothers."
5Moses brought their case before the Lord, 6and the Lord answered him, 7"What Zelophehad’s daughters say is correct. You are to give them hereditary property among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them. 8Tell the Israelites: When a man dies without having a son, transfer his inheritance to his daughter. 9If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.

Chapter 27

4Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan just because he had no sons? Give us property along with the rest of our relatives.'
5So Moses brought their case before the Lord. 6And the Lord replied to Moses, 7The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate. You must give them a grant of land along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father.
8And give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If a man dies and has no son, then give his inheritance to his daughters. 9And if he has no daughter either, transfer his inheritance to his brothers.
