Chapter 32

3Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, 4the land which the Lord conquered before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.' 5And they said, 'If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as our property; do not take us across the Jordan.'
6But Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, 'Should your brothers go to war while you remain here? 7And why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the Lord has given them?

3Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, 4Even the country which the Lord smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle: 5Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan. 6And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here? 7And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord hath given them?

3"The territory of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, 4which the Lord struck down before the community of Israel, is good land for livestock, and your servants own livestock." 5They said, "If we have found favor with you, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Don’t make us cross the Jordan."
6But Moses asked the Gadites and Reubenites, "Should your brothers go to war while you stay here? 7Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land the Lord has given them?

Chapter 32

3Notice the towns of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sibmah, Nebo, and Beon. 4The Lord has conquered this whole area for the community of Israel, and it is ideally suited for all our livestock. 5If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River.'
6Do you intend to stay here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?' Moses asked the men of Gad and Reuben. 7Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them?
