Philippians 1:8-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
8For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9And this I pray, that your love may overflow still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10so that you may discover the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ; 11having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.
12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,
13so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the praetorian guard and to everyone else,
14and that most of the brothers and sisters, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.
King James Version
Chapter 1
8For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. 9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; 11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
12But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
8For God is my witness, how deeply I miss all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, 10so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.
12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually advanced the gospel,
13so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard, and to everyone else, that my imprisonment is because I am in Christ.
14Most of the brothers have gained confidence in the Lord from my imprisonment and dare even more to speak the word fearlessly.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
8God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.
9I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
10For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
11May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation — the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ — for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
12And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News.
13For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.
14And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.
English Standard Version
Chapter 1
8For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
12I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,
13so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ.
14And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
New International Version
9And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
10so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.
13As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
14And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
New King James Version
Chapter 1

12But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
13so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;
14and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
