Chapter 119
53Burning indignation has seized me because of the wicked, Who abandon Your Law. 54Your statutes are my songs In the house of my pilgrimage. 55Lord, I remember Your name in the night, And keep Your Law. 56This has become mine, That I comply with Your precepts. 57The Lord is my portion; I have promised to keep Your words. 58I sought Your favor with all my heart; Be gracious to me according to Your word. 59I considered my ways And turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60I hurried and did not delay To keep Your commandments. 61The snares of the wicked have surrounded me, But I have not forgotten Your Law. 62At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You Because of Your righteous judgments. 63I am a companion to all those who fear You, And to those who keep Your precepts. 64The earth is full of Your goodness, Lord; Teach me Your statutes. 65You have treated Your servant well, Lord, according to Your word. 66Teach me good discernment and knowledge, For I believe in Your commandments. 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word. 68You are good and You do good; Teach me Your statutes. 69The arrogant have forged a lie against me; With all my heart I will comply with Your precepts. 70Their heart is insensitive, like fat, But I delight in Your Law. 71It is good for me that I was afflicted, So that I may learn Your statutes. 72The Law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of gold and silver pieces. 73Your hands made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding, so that I may learn Your commandments. 74May those who fear You see me and be glad, Because I wait for Your word. 75I know, Lord, that Your judgments are righteous, And that You have afflicted me in faithfulness. 76May Your favor comfort me, According to Your word to Your servant. 77May Your compassion come to me so that I may live, For Your Law is my delight. 78May the arrogant be put to shame, because they lead me astray with a lie; But I shall meditate on Your precepts. 79May those who fear You turn to me, And those who know Your testimonies. 80May my heart be blameless in Your statutes, So that I will not be ashamed. 81My soul languishes for Your salvation; I wait for Your word. 82My eyes fail with longing for Your word, While I say, 'When will You comfort me?' 83Though I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget Your statutes. 84How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me? 85The arrogant have dug pits for me, People who are not in accord with Your Law. 86All Your commandments are faithful; They have persecuted me with a lie; help me! 87They almost destroyed me on earth, But as for me, I did not abandon Your precepts. 88Revive me according to Your faithfulness, So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth. 89Forever, Lord, Your word stands in heaven. 90Your faithfulness continues throughout generations; You established the earth, and it stands. 91They stand this day by Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants. 92If Your Law had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my misery. 93I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me. 94I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your precepts. 95The wicked wait for me to destroy me; I will diligently consider Your testimonies. 96I have seen a limit to all perfection; Your commandment is exceedingly broad. 97How I love Your Law! It is my meditation all the day. 98Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine. 99I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. 100I understand more than those who are old, Because I have complied with Your precepts. 101I have restrained my feet from every evil way, So that I may keep Your word. 102I have not turned aside from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. 103How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. 105Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. 106I have sworn and I will confirm it, That I will keep Your righteous judgments. 107I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, Lord, according to Your word. 108Be pleased to accept the voluntary offerings of my mouth, Lord, And teach me Your judgments. 109My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your Law. 110The wicked have set a trap for me, Yet I have not wandered from Your precepts. 111I have inherited Your testimonies forever, For they are the joy of my heart. 112I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, even to the end. 113I hate those who are double-minded, But I love Your Law. 114You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your word. 115Leave me, you evildoers, So that I may comply with the commandments of my God. 116Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope. 117Sustain me so that I may be safe, That I may have regard for Your statutes continually. 118You have rejected all those who stray from Your statutes, For their deceitfulness is useless. 119You have removed all the wicked of the earth like impurities; Therefore I love Your testimonies. 120My flesh trembles from the fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments. 121I have done justice and righteousness; Do not leave me to my oppressors. 122Be a guarantor for Your servant for good; Do not let the arrogant oppress me. 123My eyes fail with longing for Your salvation, And for Your righteous word. 124Deal with Your servant according to Your graciousness, And teach me Your statutes. 125I am Your servant; give me understanding, So that I may know Your testimonies. 126It is time for the Lord to act, For they have broken Your Law. 127Therefore I love Your commandments Above gold, yes, above pure gold. 128Therefore I carefully follow all Your precepts concerning everything, I hate every false way. 129Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul complies with them. 130The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. 131I opened my mouth wide and panted, For I longed for Your commandments. 132Turn to me and be gracious to me, As is right for those who love Your name. 133Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me. 134Redeem me from oppression by man, So that I may keep Your precepts. 135Make Your face shine upon Your servant, And teach me Your statutes. 136My eyes shed streams of water, Because they do not keep Your Law. 137You are righteous, Lord, And Your judgments are right. 138You have commanded Your testimonies in righteousness And great faithfulness. 139My zeal has consumed me, Because my enemies have forgotten Your words. 140Your word is very pure, Therefore Your servant loves it. 141I am small and despised, Yet I do not forget Your precepts. 142Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your Law is truth. 143Trouble and anguish have come upon me, Yet Your commandments are my delight. 144Your testimonies are righteous forever; Give me understanding that I may live. 145I cried out with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will comply with Your statutes. 146I cried to You; save me And I shall keep Your testimonies. 147I rise before dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words. 148My eyes anticipate the night watches, So that I may meditate on Your word. 149Hear my voice according to Your faithfulness; Revive me, Lord, according to Your judgments. 150Those who follow after wickedness approach; They are far from Your Law. 151You are near, Lord, And all Your commandments are truth. 152From long ago I have known from Your testimonies That You have founded them forever. 153Look at my affliction and rescue me, For I have not forgotten Your Law. 154Plead my cause and redeem me; Revive me according to Your word. 155Salvation is far from the wicked, For they do not seek Your statutes. 156 Great are Your mercies, Lord; Revive me according to Your judgments. 157Many are my persecutors and my enemies, Yet I do not turn aside from Your testimonies. 158I see the treacherous and loathe them, Because they do not keep Your word. 159Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, Lord, according to Your faithfulness. 160The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments is everlasting. 161Rulers persecute me without cause, But my heart stands in awe of Your words. 162I rejoice at Your word, Like one who finds great plunder. 163I hate and loathe falsehood, But I love Your Law. 164Seven times a day I praise You Because of Your righteous judgments. 165Those who love Your Law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble. 166I hope for Your salvation, Lord, And do Your commandments. 167My soul keeps Your testimonies, And I love them exceedingly. 168I keep Your precepts and Your testimonies, For all my ways are before You. 169Let my cry come before You, Lord; Give me understanding according to Your word. 170Let my pleading come before You; Save me according to Your word. 171Let my lips pour out praise, For You teach me Your statutes. 172Let my tongue sing about Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness. 173Let Your hand be ready to help me, For I have chosen Your precepts. 174I long for Your salvation, Lord, And Your Law is my delight. 175Let my soul live that it may praise You, And let Your ordinances help me. 176I have wandered about like a lost sheep; search for Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments.King James Version
56This I had, because I kept thy precepts.
57CHETH. Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.
64The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
65TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word.
72The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
73JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
76Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.
80Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
81CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
88Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
89LAMED. For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
96I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.
97MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
104Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
105NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

113SAMECH. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.

136Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.
137TZADDI. Righteous art thou, O Lord, and upright are thy judgments.
144The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
145KOPH. I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes.
152Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
153RESH. Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.
160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
161SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

53Rage seizes me because of the wicked who reject your instruction. 54Your statutes are the theme of my song during my earthly life. 55 Lord, I remember your name in the night, and I obey your instruction. 56This is my practice: I obey your precepts. 57The Lord is my portion; I have promised to keep your words. 58I have sought your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. 59I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to your decrees. 60I hurried, not hesitating to keep your commands. 61Though the ropes of the wicked were wrapped around me, I did not forget your instruction. 62I rise at midnight to thank you for your righteous judgments. 63I am a friend to all who fear you, to those who keep your precepts. 64 Lord, the earth is filled with your faithful love; teach me your statutes. 65 Lord, you have treated your servant well, just as you promised. 66Teach me good judgment and discernment, for I rely on your commands. 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. 68You are good, and you do what is good; teach me your statutes. 69The arrogant have smeared me with lies, but I obey your precepts with all my heart. 70Their hearts are hard and insensitive, but I delight in your instruction. 71It was good for me to be afflicted so that I could learn your statutes. 72Instruction from your lips is better for me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. 73Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding so that I can learn your commands. 74Those who fear you will see me and rejoice, for I put my hope in your word. 75I know, Lord, that your judgments are just and that you have afflicted me fairly. 76May your faithful love comfort me as you promised your servant. 77May your compassion come to me so that I may live, for your instruction is my delight. 78Let the arrogant be put to shame for slandering me with lies; I will meditate on your precepts. 79Let those who fear you, those who know your decrees, turn to me. 80May my heart be blameless regarding your statutes so that I will not be put to shame. 81I long for your salvation; I put my hope in your word. 82My eyes grow weary looking for what you have promised; I ask, "When will you comfort me?" 83Though I have become like a wineskin dried by smoke, I do not forget your statutes. 84How many days must your servant wait? 53I become furious with the wicked, because they reject your instructions. 54Your decrees have been the theme of my songs wherever I have lived. 55I reflect at night on who you are, O Lord; therefore, I obey your instructions. 56This is how I spend my life: obeying your commandments.
57Lord, you are mine! I promise to obey your words!
58With all my heart I want your blessings. Be merciful as you promised.
59I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.
60I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.
61Evil people try to drag me into sin, but I am firmly anchored to your instructions.
62I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations.
63I am a friend to anyone who fears you — anyone who obeys your commandments.
64O Lord, your unfailing love fills the earth; teach me your decrees.
65You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as you promised.
66I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge.
67I used to wander off until you disciplined me; but now I closely follow your word.
68You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.
69Arrogant people smear me with lies, but in truth I obey your commandments with all my heart.
70Their hearts are dull and stupid, but I delight in your instructions.
71My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.
72Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver.
73You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands.
74May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word.
75I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it.
76Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant.
77Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight.
78Bring disgrace upon the arrogant people who lied about me; meanwhile, I will concentrate on your commandments.
79Let me be united with all who fear you, with those who know your laws.
80May I be blameless in keeping your decrees; then I will never be ashamed.
81I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.
82My eyes are straining to see your promises come true. When will you comfort me?

84How long must I wait? When will you punish those who persecute me?
85These arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap me.
86All your commands are trustworthy. Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause.

88In your unfailing love, spare my life; then I can continue to obey your laws.

91Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves your plans.
92If your instructions hadn’t sustained me with joy, I would have died in my misery.

95Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.
96Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit.

99Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.

118But you have rejected all who stray from your decrees. They are only fooling themselves.
119You skim off the wicked of the earth like scum; no wonder I love to obey your laws!

121Don’t leave me to the mercy of my enemies, for I have done what is just and right.
122Please guarantee a blessing for me. Don’t let the arrogant oppress me!
123My eyes strain to see your rescue, to see the truth of your promise fulfilled.

125Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your laws.

150Lawless people are coming to attack me; they live far from your instructions.
151But you are near, O Lord, and all your commands are true.

154Argue my case; take my side! Protect my life as you promised.
155The wicked are far from rescue, for they do not bother with your decrees.

157Many persecute and trouble me, yet I have not swerved from your laws.
158Seeing these traitors makes me sick at heart, because they care nothing for your word.
159See how I love your commandments, Lord. Give back my life because of your unfailing love.
160The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.
161Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.
162I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure.
163I hate and abhor all falsehood, but I love your instructions.

53 Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, who forsake your law. 54Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my sojourning. 55I remember your name in the night, O Lord, and keep your law. 56This blessing has fallen to me, that I have kept your precepts.
57 The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words.
58I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
59When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies;
60I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.
61Though the cords of the wicked ensnare me, I do not forget your law.
62At midnight I rise to praise you, because of your righteous rules.
63 I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.
64 The earth, O Lord, is full of your steadfast love; teach me your statutes!
65You have dealt well with your servant, O Lord, according to your word.
