Psalms 88:6-17
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 88
6You have put me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the depths. 7Your wrath has rested upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah 8You have removed my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an object of loathing to them; I am shut up and cannot go out. 9My eye grows dim from misery; I have called upon You every day, Lord; I have spread out my hands to You. 10Will You perform wonders for the dead? Or will the departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah 11Will Your graciousness be declared in the grave, Your faithfulness in Abaddon? 12Will Your wonders be made known in the darkness? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13But I, Lord, have cried out to You for help, And in the morning my prayer comes before You. 14Lord, why do You reject my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? 15I was miserable and about to die from my youth on; I suffer Your terrors; I grow weary. 16Your burning anger has passed over me; Your terrors have destroyed me. 17They have surrounded me like water all day long; They have encircled me altogether.King James Version
Christian Standard Bible

8You have distanced my friends from me; you have made me repulsive to them. I am shut in and cannot go out.

11Will your faithful love be declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Abaddon?
12Will your wonders be known in the darkness or your righteousness in the land of oblivion?
13But I call to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer meets you.
14 Lord, why do you reject me? Why do you hide your face from me?
15From my youth, I have been suffering and near death. I suffer your horrors; I am desperate.
16Your wrath sweeps over me; your terrors destroy me.
17They surround me like water all day long; they close in on me from every side.
New Living Translation
8You have driven my friends away by making me repulsive to them. I am in a trap with no way of escape.
9My eyes are blinded by my tears. Each day I beg for your help, O Lord; I lift my hands to you for mercy.
11Can those in the grave declare your unfailing love? Can they proclaim your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
12Can the darkness speak of your wonderful deeds? Can anyone in the land of forgetfulness talk about your righteousness?
13O Lord, I cry out to you. I will keep on pleading day by day.
14O Lord, why do you reject me? Why do you turn your face from me?

Chapter 88
6You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. 7Your wrath lies heavily on me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. 8You have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot escape;
9my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, Lord, every day; I spread out my hands to you.
10Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do their spirits rise up and praise you?
11Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction ?
12Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?
13But I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
14Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your face from me?
15From my youth I have suffered and been close to death; I have borne your terrors and am in despair.
16Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me.
17All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me.
New King James Version
8 You have put away my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out;
9My eye wastes away because of affliction. Lord, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You.
11Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
12Shall Your wonders be known in the dark? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
13But to You I have cried out, O Lord, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
14Lord, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?
15I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth; I suffer Your terrors; I am distraught.
16Your fierce wrath has gone over me; Your terrors have cut me off.
17They came around me all day long like water; They engulfed me altogether.
