Revelation 9:6-18
New American Standard Bible
7The appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads appeared to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like human faces.
8They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.
9They had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle.
10They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months.
11They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.
13Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, 'Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.'
15And the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released, so that they would kill a third of mankind.
16The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.
17And this is how I saw in my vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire, of hyacinth, and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths *came fire and smoke and brimstone.
18A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire, the smoke, and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.
King James Version
7And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
8And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
10And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
11And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
13And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
16And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
17And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
18By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Christian Standard Bible
7The appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. Something like golden crowns was on their heads; their faces were like human faces;
8they had hair like women’s hair; their teeth were like lions’ teeth;
9they had chests like iron breastplates; the sound of their wings was like the sound of many chariots with horses rushing into battle;
10and they had tails with stingers like scorpions, so that with their tails they had the power to harm people for five months.
11They had as their king the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
13The sixth angel blew his trumpet. From the four horns of the golden altar that is before God, I heard a voice
14say to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels bound at the great river Euphrates."
15So the four angels who were prepared for the hour, day, month, and year were released to kill a third of the human race.
16The number of mounted troops was two hundred million; I heard their number.
17This is how I saw the horses and their riders in the vision: They had breastplates that were fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and from their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur.
18A third of the human race was killed by these three plagues—by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur that came from their mouths.
New Living Translation
7The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. They had what looked like gold crowns on their heads, and their faces looked like human faces.
8They had hair like women’s hair and teeth like the teeth of a lion.
9They wore armor made of iron, and their wings roared like an army of chariots rushing into battle.
10They had tails that stung like scorpions, and for five months they had the power to torment people.
11Their king is the angel from the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon — the Destroyer.
13Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice speaking from the four horns of the gold altar that stands in the presence of God.
14And the voice said to the sixth angel who held the trumpet, 'Release the four angels who are bound at the great Euphrates River.'
15Then the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were turned loose to kill one-third of all the people on earth.
16I heard the size of their army, which was 200 million mounted troops.
17And in my vision, I saw the horses and the riders sitting on them. The riders wore armor that was fiery red and dark blue and yellow. The horses had heads like lions, and fire and smoke and burning sulfur billowed from their mouths.
18One-third of all the people on earth were killed by these three plagues — by the fire and smoke and burning sulfur that came from the mouths of the horses.
