Romans 3:7-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
7
But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?
8
And
why
not
say
(just as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), 'Let’s do evil that good may come
of it
'? Their condemnation is deserved.
9
What then? Are we better
than they?
Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
King James Version
Chapter 3
7
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
8
And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
9
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 3
7
But if by my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?
8
And why not say, just as some people slanderously claim we say, "Let us do what is evil so that good may come"? Their condemnation is deserved!
9
What then? Are we any better off? Not at all! For we have already charged that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin,
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
7
But,' someone might still argue, 'how can God condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory?'
8
And some people even slander us by claiming that we say, 'The more we sin, the better it is!' Those who say such things deserve to be condemned.
9
Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin.
English Standard Version
Chapter 3
7
But if through my lie God 's truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?
8
And why not do evil that good may come? — as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.
9
What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
New International Version
Chapter 3
7
Someone might argue, "If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?"
8
Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is just!
9
What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.
New King James Version
Chapter 3
7
For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?
8
And
why
not
say,
“Let us do evil that good may come”?—as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.
9
What then? Are we better
than they?
Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.
