Zechariah 1:1-6
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
1In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo saying, 2The Lord was very angry with your fathers. 3Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: 'Return to Me,' declares the Lord of armies, 'that I may return to you,' says the Lord of armies. 4Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: 'Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.'?’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,' declares the Lord. 5Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6But did My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, ‘Just as the Lord of armies planned to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’?'?’?'King James Version
2The Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers.
3Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.
4Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.
5Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
6But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the Lord of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

Chapter 1
1In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah, son of Iddo: 2"The Lord was extremely angry with your ancestors. 3So tell the people, ‘This is what the Lord of Armies says: Return to me—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies—and I will return to you, says the Lord of Armies. 4Do not be like your ancestors; the earlier prophets proclaimed to them: This is what the Lord of Armies says: Turn from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not listen or pay attention to me—this is the Lord’s declaration. 5Where are your ancestors now? And do the prophets live forever?New Living Translation
2I, the Lord, was very angry with your ancestors.
3Therefore, say to the people, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’
4Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
5Where are your ancestors now? They and the prophets are long dead.
6But everything I said through my servants the prophets happened to your ancestors, just as I said. As a result, they repented and said, ‘We have received what we deserved from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. He has done what he said he would do.’'
