What does Deuteronomy 25:6 mean?
ESV: And the first son whom she bears shall succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.
NIV: The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.
NASB: It shall then be that the firstborn to whom she gives birth shall assume the name of his father’s deceased brother, so that his name will not be wiped out from Israel.
