What does Exodus 21:3 mean?
ESV: If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.
NIV: If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him.
NASB: If he comes alone, he shall leave alone; if he is the husband of a wife, then his wife shall leave with him.
CSB: If he arrives alone, he is to leave alone; if he arrives with a wife, his wife is to leave with him.

Book Summary:
The book of Exodus establishes God's covenant relationship with the full-fledged nation of Israel. The descendants of Abraham prosper after settling in Egypt, only to be enslaved by a fearful, hateful Egyptian Pharaoh. God appoints Moses to lead the people out of this bondage. Moses serves as God's spokesman, as the Lord brings plagues and judgments on Egypt, leading to the release of Israel.
