What does 1 Samuel 12:22 mean?
ESV: For the LORD will not forsake his people, for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people for himself.
NIV: For the sake of his great name the LORD will not reject his people, because the LORD was pleased to make you his own.
NASB: For the Lord will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the Lord has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.
CSB: The Lord will not abandon his people, because of his great name and because he has determined to make you his own people.
NLT: The Lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his very own people.

Book Summary:
First Samuel introduces the key figures who led Israel after the era of the judges. The books of 1 and 2 Samuel were originally part of a single text, split in certain translations shortly before the birth of Christ. Some of the Bible’s most famous characters are depicted in this book. These including the prophet Samuel, Israel’s first king, Saul, her greatest king, David, and other famous names such as Goliath and Jonathan. By the end of this book, Saul has fallen; the book of 2 Samuel begins with David’s ascension to the throne.
