ESV: Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the LORD, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.”

NIV: As surely as I valued your life today, so may the LORD value my life and deliver me from all trouble.'

NASB: Therefore behold, just as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the Lord, and may He rescue me from all distress.'

CSB: Just as I considered your life valuable today, so may the Lord consider my life valuable and rescue me from all trouble."

NLT: Now may the Lord value my life, even as I have valued yours today. May he rescue me from all my troubles.'

First Samuel introduces the key figures who led Israel after the era of the judges. The books of 1 and 2 Samuel were originally part of a single text, split in certain translations shortly before the birth of Christ. Some of the Bible’s most famous characters are depicted in this book. These including the prophet Samuel, Israel’s first king, Saul, her greatest king, David, and other famous names such as Goliath and Jonathan. By the end of this book, Saul has fallen; the book of 2 Samuel begins with David’s ascension to the throne.
