What does 2 Kings 2:9 mean?
ESV: When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”
NIV: When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, 'Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?' 'Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,' Elisha replied.
NASB: When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, 'Ask me what I should do for you before I am taken from you.' And Elisha said, 'Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.'
