ESV: And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban.

NIV: Fasten a blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban.

NASB: You shall fasten it on a violet cord, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban.

CSB: Fasten it to a cord of blue yarn so it can be placed on the turban; the medallion is to be on the front of the turban.

NLT: Attach the medallion with a blue cord to the front of Aaron’s turban, where it must remain.

The book of Exodus establishes God's covenant relationship with the full-fledged nation of Israel. The descendants of Abraham prosper after settling in Egypt, only to be enslaved by a fearful, hateful Egyptian Pharaoh. God appoints Moses to lead the people out of this bondage. Moses serves as God's spokesman, as the Lord brings plagues and judgments on Egypt, leading to the release of Israel.
