What does Isaiah 51:12 mean?
ESV: “I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass,
NIV: I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass,
NASB: 'I, I Myself, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man, And of a son of man who is made like grass,
CSB: I--I am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear humans who die, or a son of man who is given up like grass?
NLT: 'I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?
KJV: I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;
NKJV: “I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

Book Summary:
Isaiah is among the most important prophetic books in the entire Bible. The first segment details God's impending judgment against ancient peoples for sin and idolatry (Isaiah 1—35). The second part of Isaiah briefly explains a failed assault on Jerusalem during the rule of Hezekiah (Isaiah 36—39). The final chapters predict Israel's rescue from Babylonian captivity (Isaiah 40—48), the promised Messiah (Isaiah 49—57), and the final glory of Jerusalem and God's people (Isaiah 58—66).
