What does Jeremiah 43:2 mean?
ESV: Azariah the son of Hoshaiah and Johanan the son of Kareah and all the insolent men said to Jeremiah, “You are telling a lie. The LORD our God did not send you to say, ‘Do not go to Egypt to live there,’
NIV: Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, 'You are lying! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, 'You must not go to Egypt to settle there.'
NASB: Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, 'You are telling a lie! The Lord our God has not sent you to say, ‘You are not to enter Egypt to reside there’;
CSB: then Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the other arrogant men responded to Jeremiah, "You are speaking a lie! The Lord our God has not sent you to say, 'You must not go to Egypt to stay there for a while! '
NLT: Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the other proud men said to Jeremiah, 'You lie! The Lord our God hasn’t forbidden us to go to Egypt!
