What does Lamentations 5:7 mean?
ESV: Our fathers sinned, and are no more; and we bear their iniquities.
NIV: Our ancestors sinned and are no more, and we bear their punishment.
NASB: Our fathers sinned, and are gone; It is we who have been burdened with the punishment for their wrongdoings.
CSB: Our ancestors sinned; they no longer exist, but we bear their punishment.
NLT: Our ancestors sinned, but they have died — and we are suffering the punishment they deserved!
