ESV: So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.

NIV: He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.

NASB: So He saved them from the hand of one who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

CSB: He saved them from the power of the adversary; he redeemed them from the power of the enemy.

NLT: So he rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
