Psalm 106:14 - Printer Friendly

ESV: But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;

NIV: In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.

NASB: But became lustfully greedy in the wilderness, And put God to the test in the desert.

CSB: They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert.

NLT: In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
