Psalm 77:1 - Printer Friendly

ESV: To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.

NIV: For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.

NASB: My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will listen to me.

CSB: I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.

NLT: I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me!

KJV: {To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph.} I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
