ESV: When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.

NIV: The waters saw you, God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed.

NASB: The waters saw You, God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The ocean depths also trembled.

CSB: The water saw you, God. The water saw you; it trembled. Even the depths shook.

NLT: When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
