ESV: Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace.

NIV: Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.

NASB: Listen, Lord, to my prayer; And give Your attention to the sound of my pleading!

CSB: Lord, hear my prayer; listen to my cries for mercy.

NLT: Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord; hear my urgent cry.

KJV: Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

NKJV: Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
