ESV: Afflicted and close to death from my youth up, I suffer your terrors; I am helpless.

NIV: From my youth I have suffered and been close to death; I have borne your terrors and am in despair.

NASB: I was miserable and about to die from my youth on; I suffer Your terrors; I grow weary.

CSB: From my youth, I have been suffering and near death. I suffer your horrors; I am desperate.

NLT: I have been sick and close to death since my youth. I stand helpless and desperate before your terrors.

KJV: I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
