ESV: They surround me like a flood all day long; they close in on me together.

NIV: All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me.

NASB: They have surrounded me like water all day long; They have encircled me altogether.

CSB: They surround me like water all day long; they close in on me from every side.

NLT: They swirl around me like floodwaters all day long. They have engulfed me completely.

KJV: They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
